The Examination Department plays a crucial role in upholding the academic integrity and smooth conduct of assessments at AISSMS College of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, an autonomous institute committed to excellence in education. This department is the backbone of the college’s evaluation system, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and fairness throughout the examination process.
At the helm of the department is the Controller of Examinations, who oversees a dedicated team comprising three teaching faculty, three non-teaching staff, and one peon. Together, they work in harmony to manage all academic assessments and student evaluation-related responsibilities.
One of the major responsibilities of the Examination Department is organizing and conducting various meetings. These include meetings of the Board of Examinations, discussions with faculty and students, and sessions for orienting newly inducted faculty members to familiarize them with examination policies, schedules, and protocols.
Continuous assessment is a key feature of the autonomous structure. The department meticulously handles the preparation of continuous assessment sheets, which track students’ performance throughout the semester. It also plans and executes unit tests, providing timely feedback to students and faculty, helping in academic progress and course corrections.
The term-end examination process begins with form filling, where students register for their respective subjects. The department ensures the setting of question papers in a secure and confidential manner, followed by the printing and distribution of hall tickets. Conducting the theory examinations as well as the practical and project report evaluations is carried out under the supervision of the examination cell with utmost discipline and fairness.
Post-examination, the department initiates the Central Assessment Process (CAP), a streamlined system where answer sheets are scanned and allotted for evaluation and moderation. This centralized approach not only speeds up the process but also ensures uniformity and accuracy in marking.
To uphold academic fairness, the department also handles revaluation and reexaminations, allowing students a transparent and structured mechanism to address discrepancies in their results. Once assessments are complete, the Examination Department undertakes the declaration of results, the preparation of result ledgers, and the generation of result analysis reports. These reports offer valuable insights for faculty and academic administrators to improve teaching-learning outcomes.
Students receive their marksheets and passing certificates printed and issued through the department, thus completing the academic cycle of evaluation. Lastly, the Examination Department serves as the first point of contact for student grievances related to examinations. Be it a query about marks, exam schedules, or procedures, the department ensures each concern is addressed promptly and effectively.
In essence, the Examination Department of AISSMS College of Hotel Management & Catering Technology functions as a pillar of academic discipline and transparency, ensuring that all examinations are conducted in a structured, student-friendly, and accountable manner. Its continuous efforts contribute significantly to the institute’s reputation for academic rigor and excellence.
