Tucked within our AISSMS CHMCT college campus is a serene and vibrant green space – the Herb Garden, lovingly created and maintained by the dedicated students of the NSS (National Service Scheme). What began as a simple initiative to promote sustainability and hands-on learning has now blossomed into a vibrant sanctuary, rich with life, colour, and purpose.

The garden is home to a variety of herbs and flowering plants, cultivated with care and attention. From fragrant basil and sage to cheerful water lilies and medicinal
Tulsi, grow alongside healthy crops of Brussels sprouts, spinach, lettuce, and even papaya trees, creating a unique mix of colour, nutrition, and natural beauty. Each plant tells a story of student effort and environmental awareness. The garden not only serves as a source of fresh produce and natural remedies but also as a living classroom, teaching the values of farming and biodiversity.

Over time, the garden has also become a small ecosystem in itself. It now provides a safe haven for butterflies, birds, and even a mongoose that occasionally makes a curious appearance. A brave little blue fighter named as Neil has made it its home too, adding to the charm and wonder of the space.

More than just a garden, this patch of green offers a peaceful retreat for students and faculty alike. It’s a place where one can take a quiet walk, sit under the shade with a book, or simply enjoy the soothing sights and sounds of nature. In a world that often moves too fast, the NSS Herb Garden reminds us of the importance of slowing down and reconnecting with the earth. It stands as a testament to what young minds can achieve with passion, teamwork, and a vision for a greener future.
